The United States Constitution
The United States Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land. This document defines the government for the United States and separates power between the three branches of government. The Constitution went into effect on March 4th, 1789. There are three parts to the Constitution, the preamble, the articles, and the amendments. The first ten amendments are called the Bill of Rights.
